Kotin's Notes
Excerpts from small blue leather journal.
A giantman brigand shouts, "Die, ya egg-shell!"
A giantman rogue feints to the right, but you aren't fooled for a second.
4th day of Eorgaen, 5120 --> Found Xred in the treehouse decorating items. He was generous enough to decorate my helm, shield and arm greaves after we discovered that he could not decorate the arrow in my head without ripping it from its currently location. Heh, it was probably a bit gruesome to ask to have the arrow decorated. Though, no one present seemed to think it out of the ordinary.
Later that evening, poetry was on the mind:
Roblar thinks, "Far to the north as the crow flies, freezes to death, and plummets from the sky.."
You think, "Not if he's a snow crow, they fly and fly where nothing shall grow."
Roblar thinks, "All hail the snow bird."
You think, "Though don't look upward, for soon shall drop the snow turd."
Svardin thinks, "Da snow bird is flyin south."
2nd day of Eorgaen, 5120 --> Crime approached me in Town Center while I was reflecting on my recent mission while sitting on the bench.
Speaking darkly to you, Crime asks, "Do you have any silver?"
You look at Crime and shake your head.
Speaking darkly to you, Crime exclaims, "You lie!"
Crime hurls himself at you!
Crime flies a bit wide and lands in a heap on the ground.
Crime stands up.
Crime cackles at you!
Speaking darkly to you, Crime says, "Thank you."
Crime grins evilly.
Crime just gave you 288 coins which you quickly pocket.
Crime winks at you.
You smile.
Speaking darkly to you, Crime exclaims, "Liar Liar Pants on Fire!"
Crime chuckles.
Speaking darkly to you, Crime says, "Those were yours, you dropped them."
Speaking darkly to you, Crime says, "Those were yours, you dropped them."
Speaking to Crime, you say, "I thinks it was whens you fells over me... that some, perchance, fell outs of your purse."
Crime shakes his head.
Speaking darkly to you, Crime says, "You're gonna need a lawyer."
You drop one silver.
You say, "I nots has that many."
Speaking darkly to you, Crime says, "When you lie you kill an empaths ability to heal for a day."
You turn to face Crime.
Crime points at Brawnnix.
Speaking darkly to you, Crime exclaims, "Can't heal for an entire day! Unless you admit you lied!"
You say, "Actually, when I lie down, them empaths has chances to learns from the wounds I collects."
You see Great Lord Brawnnix the Woundtender.
He appears to be a Giantman of the Grot'karesh Clan.
You see Lord Crime Roy'al the Cutthroat.
He appears to be a Faendryl Dark Elf.
Speaking in Giantman to Brawnnix, you say, "Funny fella, this Crime."
Speaking deeply in Giantman to you, Brawnnix says, "Yes indeed."
You give Brawnnix 287 coins.
Crime darkly says, "I will kill you both if you keep speaking in Giantman."
Speaking in Giantman to Brawnnix, you say, "Them coins be from him... likely fells out when he fells on the ground."
Crime just opened a veniom bound vruul skin swordbelt inlaid with urglaes fangs.
As Crime reaches for his tachi, the shroud of misty white thorns coalescing around it part slightly -- allowing him to hold onto it safely.
Crime removes a folded coraesine tachi set with a black ora-etched grip from in his vruul skin swordbelt.
Crime slings a spiked eye-shaped buckler off from over his shoulder.
Crime just closed a veniom bound vruul skin swordbelt inlaid with urglaes fangs.
Speaking deeply in Giantman to you, Brawnnix asks, "What was that for?"
You turn to face Crime.
You are now in a defensive stance.
You sling a flame-etched vultite wall shield off from over your shoulder.
You remove a massive executioner's axe from in your silk velvet robe.
You stand back up.
Crime roars!
Crime waves his coraesine tachi at you, and a swirling vortex of mist coalesces around you! CS: +577 - TD: +190 + CvA: -22 + d100: +72 - -5 == +442 Warding failed! A wispy hand of air reaches toward you and grasps you tightly. The hand squeezes hard, snatching the breath from your lungs. You are stunned.
Crime nods sagely.
Everything around you turns red as you work yourself into a berserker's rage!
Focusing on your bloodlust, you shake yourself out of the stun! You start to breathe easier. The redness fades from the world and you begin to breathe harder.
Speaking darkly to you, Crime says, "Kinda harsh temper eh."
Speaking darkly to you, Crime asks, "Anger management?"
Speaking to Crime, you say, "Keeps me alives..."
Speaking to Crime, you say, "Part of my martial art... of Rage Plate Do."
Crime darkly says, "Anger is more useful than dispair."
You agree with Crime.
Crime gestures at you. The magic of Crime's spell withers on contact, unraveling and dispersing without effect.
Crime blinks at you.
You smile at Crime.
1st day of Eorgaen, 5120 --> I visited Halline in the morning to renew my contracts with the guild and collect a new mission. It was time to put my new-found skills to use. First order of business, clear the mountain of a horde of Ice Elementals, Seekers and Ice Golems. Apparently, a child had been carried away up there. Each time battle was engaged, I was buffeted with magics of all sorts. Each strike gave new understanding to counter the hostile magical properties directed at me. This would turn out to be one of the longest days of my life.
Latter that day, I caught up with Alendi who was on a mission to save travelers by clearing the Trail to Icemule of bandits. I rejoiced in the opportunity to join my friend in defense of Icemule. Cleaving bandits was an added bonus. This day was turning out to be a fine day indeed.
Events took a turn for the worse when, caught off guard, Alendi was struck down by a gang of ruthless thugs. Summoning the rage to retire these thugs to the afterlife, I noticed myself open to the ravenous void at the core of my being, allowing it to surface. Muted veins of metallic grey rippled just beneath my skin. All forms of magics that were recently bestowed upon me at the magic show of the Wayside Inn fell away.
With my own internal fury coalescing inside, I unleashed the full fury of my rage to dispatch those thugs that snuffed out the life of my companion. A cleric attended to Alendi and returned him to life. Once we we re alone again, Alendi, unhesitantly, declared, "What was that!"
I considered for a moment. I had not intended to share my work yet, but, here I was, compelled to use my new skills and now I must choose keep my knowledge secret or share with my friend. Would he despise my choice to forsake magics? Would he appreciate my research? Well, I must choose the honorable route. I share my newly discovered insights with my trusted friend, hoping he understands. If he understands, mayhaps, mama Soliere will understand as well.
Alendi and I had a short talk. He was simply amazed and quickly began casting various forms of magics against me to test my mettle.
26th day of Eoantos, 5120 --> On my way done Mount Aenatumgana, I found mama Soliere searching for me still. Apparently, she had had a vision of my return and sought me out. It was a joyous moment to embrace her once again. She brought me to the local inn to enjoy various pastries and drink that are, lacking, atop Mount Aenntumgana. We reminisced well into the night. I had not the courage to tell her of my studies as she is a great lover of the magical arts for she is a practicing cleric. One day. One day I thought to myself.
26th day of Eoantos, 5120 --> I made my way back down Mount Aenatumgana after two years of solitary study during which I developed a new form of fighting to complement my Rage Plate Do style. One of the weaknesses in Rage Plate Do was to magical attacks. After reading many scrolls of magics and developing the extensive survival techniques necessary to survive the harsh elements of Mount Aenatumgana, I was able to harden my body more extensively. In the process, I stumbled upon a means to harden my soul to protect against various forms of magics.
I developed a new kata for hardening my body and soul. I've attuned myself to the properties of that rare kroderine metal that, due to my lack of experience, was untouchable. Having spied a small vein in my place of solitude, I began each day in quiet meditation then worked my way to striking at the rocky outcrop near the vein with my bare fists. Eventually, I was able to strike the vein as painful as it was. Pain is an awesome teacher.
Day in, day out the training went on. I was able to harvest some from the vein and grind it down into fine grains. Once I had sufficient quantity, I poured it into a small hot spring. Hot, of course, is relative atop Mount Aenatumgana. The pool was liquid enough. It tasted bitter, indicating it was full of salts. Most would likely consider the water to be bitterly cold. In any course, I poured the grains into the pool and began my newly developed kata with the goal of fortifying my body in the likeness of kroderine.
At first, I could barely stand at the pool's edge while working my kata. But, progressively, I made my way deeper and deeper into the pool. Each movement of my body stirred the water, causing the fine grains of kroderine to become suspended and brush up against me. Each painful session hardened my body more and more. Through meditation and reflection upon the magical scrolls I studied and the pain I experienced, my mind hardened as well.
After two years of reflection and training, I was able to return from my solitude. Mind, body and soul stronger than before.

8th day of Jastatos --> I was summoned to a meeting of like-minded individuals last night at Tartifacts seeking to help the mayor form the Town Guard for Icemule. I was nominated to be Commander and asked to be the Second in Command if I did not want the Commander position. No details for either position were given. Therefore I am presently waiting for further information.
4th day of Jastatos --> Halline sents me on a mission to kill a dangerous Ice Elemental. The joke was on me as all the Ice Elementals are dangerous. Upon reaching the summit of Mt. Aenatumgana, I found an Elemental, alone in the cold. As I prepared to strike, a frigid wind blew and I found myself tapped between three Seekers, a Saber-toothed Tiger, two Ice Golems and a second Ice Elemental. They all appeared out of a blanket of powdery snow.
Immediately they began the attack and immediately I fought back. I trampled five of them to the ground, but missed one of the the Seekers. She summoned Nature's Fury upon me. I dodge many strikes, but was clipped by one and knocked down and stunned. The other two Seekers rose to their feet and summoned more of Nature's Fury. I was being mauled by the Tiger and pounded on by the Golems. The Elementals that I was after were uttering strange phrases which left me without magical defenses.
Enraged, I broke the stun and leaped to my feet. Except, I didn't have any feet. I lost my legs, my hands, nearly lost my left arm and my head too. Thankfully, my plates acted as an exoskeleton and moved to my will. Blood was gushing everywhere. Quickly I executed a hasty retreat, withdrawing from battle. I made it to the safety of a cave where I started a fire and bandaged myself.
After assessing my situation, I realized that without my hands and legs, I was not going to be able to climb down the mountain to seek healing. Furthermore, without hands, I could not use my ring to teleport to Mirtag's Cottage nor could I heal myself with the herbs I carry.
Little hope of me getting myself home, I sent out my thoughts with an S.O.S to the World. My friend Alendi received my message and relayed it to Dirvy who, from Teras Isle, was able to send her fairy to heal me enough to return to battle. What a powerful healer. I returned to the battlefield and cut those frosty ambushers down.
I eventually found the "dangerous" Ice Elemental and was able to report a successful mission to Halline. Thanks to Alendi and Dirvy for responding to my S.O.S.
2nd day of Jastatos --> I went on the "Damsel of the Deep" ship at Ebon Gate with Iseo to peruse the merchandise.
Lady Silversoft returned to Icemule after being away to Teras Isle for a long while. She recited a couple stanzas of a poem, likely abouts me:
Silversoft recites:
"I saw a fella with an arrow
and it gave me great sorrow
he didn't want it out, it hurt without a doubt
i will try on the morrow!"
Silversoft recites:
"That same fella wrote a journal
don't know how he thought at all
the arrow was in his head
i still gives me dread
i wonder how he ever could lern-al"
26th day of Imaerasta --> I was joined on a Bandit Cleaving mission by Saranja who then accompanied me on a tiger culling mission. She gave me a great compliment after I tolds her it was a pleasure hunting with her when our missions were complete: Saranja quietly says, "Yes... many in my clan fight like you... few as well."
22nd day of Imaerasta --> Wonderful day today. Rioja and I attended the weeding of Brokkrsten and Selaesia. Near the entire Stucco Well Family was in attendance. See log here.
After the wedding, I went to the Carnival of Freaks and engaged in a philosophical debate with Mikalmas. See log here.
21st day of Imaerasta --> Attended the Carnival of Freaks. Turns out the carnival actors aren't the only freaks. There was this fella name Ziito the Knife Thrower who killed many innocents. He started off his show like this: Ziito exclaims, "Welcome everyone, welcome. I am about to perform feats of deadly aim and precision!" Soon after, he began throwing knives at a shivering captive who was naked, a reluctant volunteer, a downtrodden wanderer and a reclusive hermit. None of these folks had armor of any kind. In fact, a kobold has immeasurably more defense than these victims of Ziito -- and society. Ziito acted more like a bandit, killing innocents. I was appalled. However, that was not the worst of it. The vast majority of the spectators cheered Ziito on. I asked what a reclusive hermit could have done to deserve such a fate and some from the crowd answered that he offended the wrong person. But, I ask, how can some who is reclusive AND a hermit offend anyone? They remove themselves from society. If this is what is considered "civil," then Society has fallen.
While here, I met up with Iseo who accompanied me to the various shops. We met up with Enestrie and the two of them began to speak about me in my presence. Very humbling to know that one is valued by others.
Iseo says, "Enestrie do you know Kotin?
Enestrie says, "I do know Kotin."
Enestrie says, "He is a vital part of Icemule."
Enestrie nods at Iseo.
You smile.
Iseo says, "Yes. I think they should give him a badge."
Enestrie says, "Agreed."
Enestrie says, "And not only is he an avid fighter, but he is a brilliant writer."
Enestrie nods at Iseo.
Your cheeks flush with a soft pale rose shade, darkening your freckles even more.
Speaking to you, Enestrie says, "Sorry, I can't help but say these things, they are true."
Enestrie says, "I best move on."
Enestrie says, "He will die of embarrassment."
Enestrie grins at you.
Speaking to Enestrie, you say, "Thank you."
Enestrie nods to you.
19th day of Imaerasta --> Went to White Haven's service night. The chrism task was to make a song about polar bears and autumn. Here is my entry (ooc sung to the tune of MC Hammer's Can't Touch This):
You sing:
"Can't starve this
Can't starve this
Can't starve this"
You sing:
"My, my, my, hunger makes me so hard
Eating prey, packing on lard
Thank you, for blessing me
With abundant prey within my reach"
You sing:
"When it's Autumn, them leaves come down
Providing me with food, on the ground
And I'm known to eat so much
Cuz I'm the bear that you just can't touch"
You sing:
"I told you lady winter
Can't starve this
No, no, no
Can't starve this."
You sing:
"Let me roar out some fresh new lyrics
Before you think about taking my spirit
So, ya better watch it, cuz I'm mauling
Chomping on everything as I'm balling"
You sing:
"I told you....
Can't starve this
No, no, no
Can't starve this."
You sing:
"Blowing that breeze
Never make me sneeze
Autumn's trying, as hard as she can
To prepare me for, Lady Winter's hand
What she don't know is that I'm glorious
Packing on the pounds very very furious"
You sing:
"I told you...
Can't starve this
No, no, no
Can't Starve This!"
