Hall of Heroes, Weapon Bonding and Highguard Keep

=========================================

Commander Roblar just arrived.
Roblar smiles at you.
Roblar deeply says, "You both, on me."
Roblar grins.
You nod to Roblar in greeting.
Talanta blushes a delicate shade of pale pink.
You stand back up.

Speaking to Talanta, Bliston says, "May your Lady keep you safe."
You join Roblar.
Roblar nods to you.
Speaking tremulously to Talanta, Bliston says, "When I cannot."

Roblar deeply says, "We'll head to da shrine."
Bliston yawns.
Roblar deeply says, "And he needs."
Roblar rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Roblar draws a faewood runestaff from one of the sinew-bound dark oilskin loops sewn inside of his bear hide greatcloak.
Roblar deeply says, "Dis."
Roblar offers Varuv a faewood runestaff.
Varuv just handed Roblar some coins.
Varuv accepts Roblar's faewood runestaff.
Speaking to Roblar, Varuv says, "My thanks."
Varuv bows to Roblar.
Roblar deeply says, "Enjoy its."
Roblar nods at Varuv.

Roblar nods to you.
Roblar deeply says, "We travel south."
You nod at Roblar.
Roblar waves.
Commander Roblar's group just went south.
[Icemule Trace, South Road]
A silvery sheen from something up north catches your eye over the heads of the crowds.  No matter the time of day or night, this stretch of road always seems busy.  A young halfling girl, dressed in the livery of the Silvermule Gaming Hall, rushes past you to deliver a message.  You also see some uniformed halfling guards.

[Icemule Trace, South Road]
A narrow house juts into the street, as though pushed off its foundation by the expanding gaming hall to the southwest.  You step carefully along the cobblestones and try not to glance into the open window at street level.  You also see a squalid canvas pavilion.

Roblar deeply says, "First..."

You remove a kelyn-tipped steel claidhmore from in your eel skin harness.
Roblar deeply says, "Need to refresh magics."
Roblar waggles his fingers mystically.  Ooh...impressive.
Roblar chuckles.
Using very precise and slow gestures with his hands, Roblar prepares to cast a spell...
Roblar
spells himself up.

Roblar deeply asks, "Need any?"

You say, "I think I am fine."
Roblar nods.
"I hope, at leastYou say, "I hope, at least."
Roblar smiles.
You grin.
Roblar nods in agreement.

Roblar deeply says, "We shall go to Kai's shrine."
Roblar nods.
Roblar grins.
You nod.
You ask, "Is it a long trek?"
Roblar deeply says, "Near da landing."
You rub your chin thoughtfully.

Merilion just arrived.

You nod.
Roblar deeply says, "Right now is set for right here."
You say, "I am ready."
Roblar deeply says, "Ok."

Merilion just went west.

Roblar smiles.
Commander Roblar's group just went south,
on the Trail to the Landing.  The Commander's group continued south through Danjirland and past the Gates into Lower Dragonsclaw Forest to Kai's Shrine, the Shrine of Heroes.

[Lower Dragonsclaw, Summit]
Large rectangular talismans carved from pale grey granite ring the edges of the summit, like sentries guarding the precious grounds of this jewel among the heavens.  Moonlight pierces through the clouds overhead, carrying with it a faint promise of light found even in the darkness.  Set in the exact center of the circle, a tall octagonal building with an arch of pure granite beckons.

Commander Roblar's group just went through a tall grey granite arch.
[Shrine of Heroes]
Snow white vultite walls tower high overhead in this eight-sided room, their enormous size dwarfing only slightly the magnificent granite statue that stands in the center of the structure.  Softly colored light filters in from huge stained glass windows set into each wall, creating a kaleidoscope of color dancing across the rich grey slate floors.

Roblar deeply says, "Here."

Roblar smiles.
You kneel down.
Roblar deeply exclaims, "The Shrine of Heroes!"
Roblar bows to a magnificent granite statue.

You hold your steel claidhmore up in offering and mutter some prayers to Kai.  After a moment of silence, a steely silver shaft of light springs forth from your steel claidhmore and bathes you in its glow.  Images of the steel claidhmore from its moment of creation to the present flash before your eyes in quick succession.  As the images and shaft of light fade away, you feel heavily drained but somehow more spiritually attuned to the steel claidhmore.

Roblar deeply says, "Kai."
You feel less drained.
Roblar applauds you.

Roblar deeply says, "You and your claidhmore av been blessed."
Roblar gazes heavenward.
You beam!
You stand back up.

Roblar smiles at you.
You say, "This was not as far away as I thought."

Roblar deeply says, "There are others."
Roblar deeply says, "Ronan's shrine."
Roblar deeply says, "And am sure many around Icemule."
You do not feel drained anymore.

Roblar deeply says, "Charl's is nearby too."

Roblar smiles.
Roblar nods approvingly.
Roblar deeply says, "Lets return."
Commander Roblar's group just went out.

Commander Roblar's group just went down.

Commander Roblar lead the group to the Landing for a short stop to talk with the locals, then continued their journey toward Icemule through the Lower Dragonsclaw Grasslands whereupon the came to an outpost.  The weather appeared strange for this time of year and the Commander felt it was indicative of the arrival of someone of great power.  So, like any good commander, he inspected the situation to determine the next plan of action.

[Hendoran Outpost, Rooftop]
Stone ramparts line the entire perimeter of the rooftop, each section evenly spaced and fortified to allow equal protection and a staging ground for archers.  Rising from the center of the area is a crisp silver flag emblazoned with a silver phoenix and it flaps with the slightest of wind.  Beyond the highest point of the outpost, the grasslands stretch out far to the south before they disappear into the forest, and the palisade walls and buildings of Wehnimer's Landing expand to the north.  You also see a sturdy azure-lensed telescope, an iron-bound wooden trapdoor, a dark imperial ballista, a dark steel vat, a large pile of white logs, a large pile of logs and a long sturdy rope.

Roblar grins.
Roblar grabs the telescope and turns it to the northeast.
Roblar deeply says, "Too much snow."
Roblar runs a hand over his bear hide greatcloak, cleaning off any accumulated snow.

Roblar mumbles something under his breath.
You smile.
Commander Roblar's group just went through an iron-bound wooden trapdoor.

We continued northward, along the Trail.  We stopped at Blue Glacier to visit Highguard Keep.

[Blue Glacier, Mountain Pass]
The view is remarkable from your vantage point at the top of this plateau as you stop to rest.  You gaze north to find the snow-blown expanse of the tundra stretching as far as the eye can see.  To the southwest, the jagged magnificence of the Blue Glacier Mountains rises to great heights and embraces the clouds.  You also see a mithril-tipped black rolaren portcullis set within an imposing granite gatehouse.

Roblar deeply asks, "You been ere right?"
Roblar glances at a mithril-tipped black rolaren portcullis set within an imposing granite gatehouse and grins.
Commander Roblar's group just went through a mithril-tipped black rolaren portcullis set within an imposing granite gatehouse.

[Highguard Keep, Courtyard]
Constant activity in this spacious bailey keeps the swirling snow from blanketing the cobbled courtyard.  Wooden stables and storerooms cling to the perimeter walls, but the grey granite exterior of the compound's towering inner keep is bare except for an incised cornerstone.  Crenellated battlements top the keep, overhanging the steep structure like a beetled brow, and obscuring the stars behind them.  Tucked into a protected corner near the northern stables is a small fountain.  To the south, a snow-dusted marble statue presides over a row of archery butts.  You also see a black rolaren portcullis.

As Roblar pulls firmly on a pair of heavy ironwood doors, they reluctantly open with an audible groan.
Commander Roblar's group just went through a pair of heavy ironwood doors.

[Highguard Keep, Great Hall]
Large enough to swallow a modest inn whole, the great hall is clearly the heart of the castle.  Braziers and a massive fieldstone hearth provide just enough light to reveal exposed ironwood beams high above the bearskin rugs and leather chairs scattered throughout the chamber.  Tapestries depicting scenes of battles and hunts add color to stone walls.  Pine boughs arranged on a T-shaped table that could seat a small army combine their fragrance with the pungent aromas of ale and roasted meats.  A grey granite throne inlaid with ironwood rises amidst a menagerie of trophy heads.  You also see a flight of tall stone steps and a pair of heavy ironwood doors.

You say, "Not that I recall."

Roblar deeply asks, "No?"
Roblar deeply says, "Iz my keep."

You beam happily at Roblar!
Roblar deeply says, "Welcome to Highguard."
Roblar walks over to the throne and settles down.
You gaze in wonder at your surroundings.
Roblar chuckles.

Roblar points at a gold-banded oak keg on a T-shaped table.
Roblar deeply says, "Halp yerself."
Roblar points at a T-shaped table.
Roblar points at an opaque glass bottle on a T-shaped table.

On the T-shaped table you see a bundle of bone-tipped fir arrows, an opaque glass bottle, a leg of roasted snow hare, a platter of juicy mammoth steaks, some loaves of hearty brown bread, a plate of hard smoked cheese, a tray of winterberry tarts and a gold-banded oak keg.

Roblar deeply asks, "Whiskey or ale?"
Roblar flashes a quick grin at you.

You put a kelyn-tipped steel claidhmore in your eel skin harness.
You rub your chin thoughtfully.

You say, "Ale."
Roblar whispers, "Get keg."

You turn the gold spout connected to the oak keg, pouring a stream of cloudy liquid into a waiting glazed mug.  Once the liquid reaches just below the lip, you stop pouring and take the beverage in hand.

You take a drink from your mug of ale.
You have 4 quaffs left.

You help yourself to a leg of roasted snow hare.
You take a bite of your roasted snow hare.  Delicious.  Isn't it great being a carnivore?
You have 6 bites left.
You chuckle.

Roblar smiles.
Roblar nods.
Roblar stands up.
Roblar just grabbed a wooden stick from the wooden sticks.

You say, "It's great being a carnivore."
Roblar breaks a stick into pieces and tosses them into the hearth.
Roblar just grabbed a wooden stick from the wooden sticks.
Roblar takes some wooden sticks and places them in the hearth.  Using two of the smaller pieces, he rubs them until a tiny flame bursts out.  Placing the burning twigs among the prepared wood, he blows gently on them until the flames spread and grow.

You laugh out loud!
The fire crackles and the flames jump as a warm glow settles in on you.
You take a drink from your mug of ale.  The hearty brew is accompanied by the faint aftertaste of orange flavoring.
You have 3 quaffs left.

Roblar nods in agreement.
Roblar helps himself to a juicy mammoth steak.
Roblar winks.
Roblar takes a bite of his juicy mammoth steak.
Roblar vigorously shakes his head.

Roblar smacks his lips.
Roblar gobbles down his juicy mammoth steak in one enormous bite.
Roblar deeply says, "Ah."
You ask, "Did you build this yourself?"
You take a bite of your roasted snow hare.

Roblar nods.

Made of thickly padded wool, the wall hangings serve a practical purpose as well as a decorative one, preventing the room's warmth from being lost to the surrounding granite.  Some tapestries are free-hanging while others appear to be tacked tightly against the wall.  Behind several of the tapestries you see slender arrow slits overlooking the courtyard.  In times of war, the keep's occupants can strip the padded fabric from the walls and defend themselves from invaders.

You say, "Nice.  Arrow slits."
Roblar grins.
(OOC) Roblar's player whispers, "Going to make it able to look through to courtyard."
You ask, "You have had battles?"

Roblar nods.
Roblar deeply says, "Mostly bandits."
Roblar deeply says, "And annoying ghost wolves."
Roblar chuckles.

You mutter bandits.
Roblar deeply says, "Wudn't call it a battle."

Roblar deeply says, "Out here we av."
Roblar points at a snow-dusted marble statue.
Roblar strikes a heroic pose.
Carved from polished blue-grey marble, the heroic statue features a detailed image of a young giantman and rearing grizzly bear caught mid-brawl.  The powerfully built giantman stands tall, his tightened fists aimed toward the creature's jet-inset eyes and gaping maw.  A rectangular bronze plaque is affixed to the base between the two fighters, and it reads: "Birth of a Warrior."

Roblar simply says, "Me."
Roblar grins.
Roblar deeply says, "And da first T'Kirem ritual of manhood."
Loud stomping and snorts sound from the direction of the stables, quickly accompanied by the shouts of stable hands as they try to quiet a restless steed.

You agree with Roblar.

You ask, "Do you ride your steeds?"
Roblar shakes his head.
Roblar deeply says, "Not often."

Roblar deeply says, "Use magics more."
You ask, "Breeding stock only?"
Roblar grasps the thick iron chain next to the black rolaren portcullis and begin to steadily pull hand-over-hand.  As the chain moves through the winch high above, the portcullis lowers smoothly.

Roblar deeply says, "A moment."
Roblar disbands his group.
Commander Roblar just went through a pair of heavy ironwood doors.
Commander Roblar just came through a pair of heavy ironwood doors.
As Roblar leans against the ironwood doors, they reluctantly close with a muffled *THUD*!
Roblar removes an iron-nocked beech long bow from on a small fountain.
Roblar drops a bundle of bone-tipped fir arrows.
Roblar removes a single bone-tipped fir arrow from a bundle of bone-tipped fir arrows.
Roblar turns to face an archery butt.
Roblar deeply says, "Must always practice."
Roblar winks at you.
Roblar notches his arrow, draws slowly taking careful aim, and lets the shot fly at the archery butt!
The arrow flies towards the archery butt on a steady path, hitting the first ring!

You nod at Roblar.
Roblar grumbles.
Roblar removes a single bone-tipped fir arrow from a bundle of bone-tipped fir arrows.

Roblar removes a single bone-tipped fir arrow from a bundle of bone-tipped fir arrows.
Roblar notches his arrow, draws slowly taking careful aim, and lets the shot fly at the archery butt!
The arrow carries towards the archery butt on a wobbly trajectory, barely missing the outer rings.

You turn to Roblar and cheer!

Roblar mutters under his breath.
Roblar removes a single bone-tipped fir arrow from a bundle of bone-tipped fir arrows.
Roblar deeply asks, "Wud you like to try?"

Roblar offers you an iron-nocked beech long bow.  Type ACCEPT to accept the offer or DECLINE to decline it.  The offer will expire in 30 seconds.

You say, "Sure."
You accept Roblar's offer and are now holding an iron-nocked beech long bow.
Roblar smiles.
Roblar removes a bone-tipped fir arrow from in an archery butt.

Roblar clears the multitude of arrows.

Roblar deeply says, "Iz clear for you."
Roblar points at an archery butt.
You nod.
You remove a bone-tipped fir arrow from in your beech long bow.
Roblar whispers, "Swap hands."
You swap an iron-nocked beech long bow to your left hand and a bone-tipped fir arrow to your right hand.
Roblar nods.
You nod at Roblar.
Roblar whispers, "Fire bow at butt."

You notch your arrow, draw slowly taking careful aim, and let the shot fly at the archery butt!

Roblar grins.

The arrow sails through the air in a high arc, unfortunately a little too high, missing the archery butt by half its distance!

Roblar winces.
You rub your chin thoughtfully.
Roblar chuckles.
Roblar deeply says, "Will av a servant fetch it later."
Roblar waves his hand in a dismissive gesture.
You glance at an archery butt.
You nod.
You say, "Forgive me."
You say, "I got carried away."
Roblar deeply says, "Miss again and...."

Roblar glances meaningfully at a murder hole.

Roblar chuckles to himself.

Roblar whispers, "Open doors."
Giving the ironwood doors a firm pull, they reluctantly open with an audible groan.  Warmth washes over you on an ale-scented breeze that rushes out of the keep.
Roblar takes a deep breath.
Roblar deeply says, "Ah, home."
Roblar flashes a wide grin.

Roblar deeply says, "Av a key."
Roblar brushes his fingers lightly against his black rolaren key.
You ask, "You produce ale as well?"

Roblar deeply says, "No but av so much."

Roblar deeply says, "Avn't seen da rest."
Roblar winks.

Roblar deeply says, "In storage."

Roblar deeply says, "Bring me here from any town in da lands."

Roblar put a bundle of bone-tipped fir arrows on a T-shaped table.
Roblar disbands his group.
Commander Roblar just went west

A sudden blast of icy wind rips through the area, bringing a swirling mass of snow in its wake.  As the flakes swirl and scatter in all directions, Roblar is left standing in the aftermath, a few lone ice crystals swiftly melting from his shoulders.

Roblar grins at you.
Roblar adds you to his group.

Roblar points at a colorful banner.
You say, "Impressive."

Roblar deeply says, "Da banners of Voln, Helden Hall, and Highguard."

"Does your key ever get taken by chronomages? You ask, "Does your key ever get taken by chronomages?"
Roblar helps himself to a glazed winterberry tart.
Roblar shakes his head.

Roblar deeply says, "Nor my ring."
Roblar brushes his fingers lightly against his dark veil iron ring.

Roblar grins.
You nod.

Roblar deeply says, "Da ring kin travel to ten locations."
You blink.
Roblar deeply says, "And can peer into it to see who or what is there."
Roblar deeply says, "Aforehand."
Roblar deeply says, "Two of em are here also."
You gasp.
Roblar rubs his ring and fog billows from it in a thick cloud, quickly obscuring his form from sight.  As the murk clears, you see Roblar is no longer there.
"That can be usefulYou say, "That can be useful."
Commander Roblar just climbed down a flight of tall stone steps.
Roblar grins.

Roblar takes a bite of his winterberry tart.
Roblar just closed a pair of heavy ironwood doors.
Roblar rubs his chin thoughtfully.
The fire goes quietly out.  Small sounds come from the remaining bits of wood as they begin to cool off.  A last wisp of smoke rises to signal surrender to the forces of nature.
Roblar disbands his group.
Roblar just opened a pair of heavy ironwood doors.
Commander Roblar just went through a pair of heavy ironwood doors.
A pair of heavy ironwood doors suddenly closes with a muffled *THUD*, blocking out the cold and snow.

You ask, "Using your powers to walk thorugh walls?"

Commander Roblar just climbed down a flight of tall stone steps.
Roblar adds you to his group.
Roblar nods to a pair of heavy ironwood doors.
Roblar deeply says, "Sounds better when closed from outside."
Roblar chuckles.

Roblar glances at a menagerie of trophy heads.
Roblar glances at a grey granite throne.

Roblar glances at something under a T-shaped table.
Roblar nods to a massive fieldstone hearth.
The quartz and feldspar rocks that most likely littered the keep's grounds before it was built now make up the surround and chimney for a hearth large enough to hold a tree's worth of logs.  The mantelpiece appears to be the same ironwood that forms the ceiling's beams, cut in half lengthwise.  Even split, the slab of wood is massive.  A basket of wooden sticks sits nearby.
Roblar deeply says, "More iz hee."

Roblar points west.
Commander Roblar's group just went west.
[Highguard Keep, Buttery]
This storage space is so packed with food that builders have added a wooden loft to hold the excess.  Cheese wheels, wine casks, salted meats, and barrels of vegetables would surely be enough to withstand a months-long siege, yet the freshness of the food suggests it's just the weekly supply.  Round wooden covers conceal a pair of brick-lined chambers dug into the frosty soil where perishables can be kept cold.

Roblar nods to a brick-lined chamber.
Roblar removes a large black rolaren key hanging from a thick silver chain from his neck.

You hear a click as Roblar unlocks a brick-lined chamber.
Roblar just opened a brick-lined chamber.
Roblar smiles.
In the brick-lined chamber you see a banded thanot keg, a pale wooden case, a gold-rimmed crystal flute, a gold-labeled champagne bottle, a gold-labeled champagne bottle, a cobalt blue champagne bottle, a bottle of iceblossom wine, a bottle of fine Vornavis chardonnay, a bottle of white wine, a banded maple keg, a red-banded oak keg and a frosted bottle of red wine.
Roblar deeply says, "Keep things cold there."
Roblar deeply says, "More kegs."

You say, "And a flute."
Roblar gobbles down his winterberry tart in one enormous bite.
Roblar turns the gold spout on the oak keg, pouring himself a clay stein of mead.
Roblar deeply asks, "Flute?"
Roblar deeply says, "Oh, glass."
You tap a gold-rimmed crystal flute in a brick-lined chamber.
Roblar smiles.

Roblar nods.
Roblar deeply says, "For drinks."
Roblar nods to a gold-labeled green champagne bottle.
Your brigandine armor shifts out of alignment as the additional reinforcements fall away.
You say, "Ah."
Roblar deeply says, "Can spray dem on people."
Roblar deeply says, "Fun for merchants."
Roblar smirks.
You chuckle.
Roblar deeply says, "Mead too."
Roblar indicates his stein of mead with a smile.
Roblar deeply says, "But most those things from festivals."

You nod.
Roblar deeply says, "Drinks."
Roblar deeply says, "And while me leave my dors open people take things."

You ask, "You have many parties here?"
Roblar deeply says, "So av been keepin dat locked."
Roblar winks.
Roblar just closed a brick-lined chamber.
You hear a click as Roblar locks a brick-lined chamber.
Roblar shakes his head.
You chuckle.
Roblar deeply says, "Not for awhile."
Roblar hangs a large black rolaren key hanging from a thick silver chain around his neck.
You ask, "Lopsopod comes down often?"
Roblar takes a drink from his stein of mead.
Roblar looks rather relaxed.
Roblar shakes his head.
Roblar deeply says, "Not sure if he seen its."
Commander Roblar's group just went east.

Also here: Commander Roblar

Roblar deeply says, "Upstairs we av."
Roblar points at a flight of tall stone steps.
Commander Roblar's group just climbed up a flight of tall stone steps.
[Highguard Keep, Landing]
Torches illuminate a row of suits of full plate armor that stand like sentinels along the landing.  To the west, a series of narrow mullioned bay windows that enclose a polished oak bench offer an expansive view of the remote trail that connects Wehnimer's Landing and Icemule Trace.  A few sheets of parchment and a scattering of mithril figures, arrayed for battle atop a painted map, rest upon a narrow table at one end of the landing.  A bookcase stands nearby, filled with leather-bound volumes and additional maps.  You also see a flight of tall stone steps leading down, a trapdoor in the ceiling accessed by a ladder and a massive ironwood door with rolaren hasps.

Roblar points at a mullioned bay window.
Roblar deeply says, "Can look out."
Roblar whispers, "Peer or look window."

You gaze through the bay window and see...

Obvious paths: north, southwest
Roblar points at a parchment.
Roblar deeply says, "Bandit hunting."
You smile.
Roblar grins.
Roblar takes a drink from his stein of mead.

A map of the surrounding terrain has been painstakingly drawn on the parchment.  Dozens of circles have been placed along the trail with notations of known bandit activity.  Several of the circles have large X's drawn through them, marking threats that have been eliminated.

Roblar walks over to the bench and settles down.
Roblar stares outward.
Roblar nods to a mullioned bay window.
Roblar indicates his stein of mead with a smile.

Roblar deeply says, "Guud place to drink and watch."
Roblar takes a drink from his stein of mead.

You nod at Roblar.
Roblar stands up.
Roblar turns around.
Roblar taps a bookcase.
Roblar glances at some suits of full plate armor.
Roblar deeply says, "And my room."

Commander Roblar's group just went through a massive ironwood door with rolaren hasps.

[Highguard Keep, Bedchamber]
High ceilings and smooth, plaster-coated stone walls give this large room a surprisingly airy feel.  A smaller version of the fieldstone fireplace in the hall below keeps the bedchamber comfortable, as a north-facing window is shuttered tightly against the evening's chill.  Although a rough-hewn oak bed lavishly draped with furs dominates the room, a free-standing grindstone and a well-stocked weapons rack draw attention near the window.  Two small tables guard the bed, while an enormous mithril vault is built into the opposing wall.  You also see a massive ironwood door with rolaren hasps and a tall silver-framed mirror.

Roblar smiles.
Roblar points at an enormous mithril vault.
You ask, "Have you considered getting an illuminated parchment to allow for reading at night?"
You remove an illuminated parchment from in your black silk cloak.
You tap an illuminated parchment, which is in your right hand.
A soft glow emanates from the silver lantern.
You say, "Helps me study."
Roblar chuckles.
Roblar deeply says, "Av dis."

You put an illuminated parchment in your black silk cloak.
Roblar points at a small silver lantern on a bedside table.
Roblar points at a fieldstone fireplace.
Roblar carefully extinguishes the silver lantern, causing a small jet of smoke which quickly dissipates.
You chuckle.
You say, "Indeed."
Roblar lights a silver lantern, and a small flame flares into being, casting a dancing shadow along the ground.

Roblar just grabbed a wooden stick from the wooden sticks.
Roblar breaks a stick into pieces and tosses them into the fireplace.
Roblar rubs something in a grizzly bear hide greatcloak with an ivory-fanged hood.
You say, "I am but a pauper."
Roblar points at a window.
Roblar deeply says, "A d'frent view, to da north."
Roblar glances at a tall silver-framed mirror.
You gaze through the window and see...

[Icemule Trail, Tundra]
Large, granite boulders dot the landscape, left behind by the receding glacier sometime in the distant past.  Considering the size of the rocks, the power of the glacier that moved them must have been amazing.
Obvious paths: north, southwest
Roblar takes a drink from his stein of mead.
Roblar gasps for breath after he swallows a large draught of mead.
Roblar nods to a weapons rack.

Roblar takes a seat on the oak bed.

Roblar grasps the sheets tightly, pulling them up to his neck.
Roblar grins.
You look at yourself carefully in the silver-framed mirror...

You see Kotin.
He appears to be a Giantman.
He is very tall and appears to be in the spring of life.  He has brooding amber eyes and freckled skin.  He has raggedly cut, unruly deep red hair with lighter streaks.  He has a gaunt face, a broad nose and a grizzled beard.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing an enruned gold ring, some rolaren brigandine armor, a crystal amulet, a mithril bound orc hide weapon sling, a ragged bearskin pack, a grey walrus hide sack, a purple-tipped crimson spine toothpick, a hooded black silk cloak, a sparkling chrysoberyl ring, a chiseled beryl ring, a leather claw-fringed pouch, and a plain eel skin harness.
Roblar pushes the sheets off him.
Roblar stands up.
Roblar leaps onto the oak bed.
Roblar roars!
Roblar jumps up and down on the oak bed.
Roblar chuckles.
Roblar deeply says, "Sturdy."
You chuckle.
Roblar turns to face an enormous mithril vault.

You agree with Roblar.
Roblar grasps the large wheel on the vault and turns it hard to the left, straining a bit as he does so.  With a loud *THUNK!* the massive steel bars that secure the door slide free and Roblar opens the vault.
You say, "It would have to be if you sleep there."

Roblar smiles.
Roblar deeply asks, "Av any fur pelts on you?"
Roblar deeply says, "Or skins."
You rub your chin thoughtfully.
You open a ragged bearskin pack.
You rummage through the contents of your bearskin pack, arranging them in alphabetical order.
In the bearskin pack you see a white flask, an aquamarine wand, a golden wand, an iron wand and a silver wand.
You close a ragged bearskin pack.
You look at Roblar and shake your head.
You say, "Sold them prior to resting in town."
Roblar nods.
You say, "I am required to carry all my possessions."
Roblar rubs his chin thoughtfully.
You say, "So I sell as often as possible."
After firmly closing the door of the vault, Roblar grasps the wheel and gives it a quick spin to the right.  A loud *THUNK!* echoes through the bedchamber as the massive steel bars slide into place and secure the door.
Roblar deeply says, "Ah."

Roblar deeply says, "You can read dat den."
Roblar glances at a weapons rack and grins.

Bladed weapons of all shapes and sizes line the rack, ambient light glinting from the smooth, polished edges.  Rows of various types of knives are carefully aligned above all manner of broadswords along the outer portion of the rack, while the center contains numerous waraxes and claidhmores.  There is one empty space in an honored position with words inscribed above it.

There appears to be something written on it.

Roblar tips his head back and empties a clay stein of mead down his gullet!
You beam!
You say, "Claidhmores."

Roblar removes an immense rolaren waraxe from in his bear hide axe scabbard.
You say, "Nice."

Roblar deeply says, "Aye."

Roblar deeply says, "Iz da name of."

Roblar casually brushes the remnants of his last battle from his waraxe.
Roblar nods.

Roblar deeply says, "Or, where me keeps it."
Roblar deeply says, "When restin."
Roblar put an immense rolaren waraxe in his bear hide axe scabbard.
You nod.
Commander Roblar's group just went through a massive ironwood door with rolaren hasps.

Roblar deeply says, "And up here we av."
Roblar deeply says, "Climb up."

Roblar points at a trapdoor in the ceiling accessed by a ladder.
After getting a firm grip on a rung, Roblar deftly makes his way up the ladder and through the trapdoor in the ceiling.
Appearing through the trapdoor in the ceiling, Roblar quickly descends the ladder and drops to the floor.
Roblar grins.
Roblar nods encouragingly.

Roblar points up.
After getting a firm grip on a rung, Roblar deftly makes his way up the ladder and through the trapdoor in the ceiling.

Appearing through the trapdoor in the ceiling, Roblar quickly descends the ladder and drops to the floor.
You rub your chin thoughtfully.
Roblar whispers, "Go trapdoor."
You chuckle.
Roblar grins.

You quietly whisper to Roblar, "Tried ladder, up, rung..."
After getting a firm grip on a rung, you deftly make your way up the ladder and through the trapdoor in the ceiling.
[Highguard Keep, Rooftop]
Crenellated granite walls provide protection for archers, but offer little defense against the ever-present northern winds at this altitude.  From this vantage point, the lights of surrounding lodges and townships become tiny constellations mirroring the ones above you.  Though now home only to a pair of snowy owls that have built a nest in the lee of one wall, a discarded ballista bolt suggests the roof recently held weapons of war.  A tall flagpole stands firmly in the ironwood planking.  You also see a large iron brazier and a small fireworks press.
Obvious paths: none

Popping his head through the trapdoor, Roblar places his hands on the planking and pulls himself up onto the roof.
Roblar chuckles.
Roblar glances at a small fireworks press.
You say, "Forgive me, was having troubles."
Roblar deeply says, "Lemme get some skins."
Roblar deeply says, "Iz fine."
You nod.
Roblar winks.

Lowering himself through the trapdoor, Roblar braces his feet on a rung and quickly works his way down the ladder.
The crisp *CRACK* of cloth snapping in the wind fills the area, reverberating off the surrounding stone walls, as the banner atop the flagpole strains against the frigid gale.

Popping his head through the trapdoor, Roblar places his hands on the planking and pulls himself up onto the roof.
Roblar flashes a wide grin.
Roblar offers you a wolverine pelt.  Type ACCEPT to accept the offer or DECLINE to decline it.  The offer will expire in 30 seconds.
You accept Roblar's offer and are now holding a wolverine pelt.
Roblar deeply asks, "Av gems?"
You carefully examine the wolverine pelt and determine that the weight is less than 2 pounds.

The single item matching "a grey walrus hide sack" is now at the top of your inventory.
Roblar deeply asks, "What color ya like?"
You open a grey walrus hide sack.
You say, "Looking."
The shrill cry of a hawk drifts in from high overhead and is quickly answered by the protective *hoot* of the owls.
Roblar gazes up into the heavens.
You remove a blue spinel from in your walrus hide sack.
You close a grey walrus hide sack.
Roblar grins.
Roblar deeply says, "Put da pelt in da press."

You put a wolverine pelt in a small fireworks press.
You swap your blue spinel from your left to your right hand.
Roblar deeply says, "Put da gem in da press."

Roblar deeply says, "Now for dat wand."
Lowering himself through the trapdoor, Roblar braces his feet on a rung and quickly works his way down the ladder.
Popping his head through the trapdoor, Roblar places his hands on the planking and pulls himself up onto the roof.
You put a blue spinel in a small fireworks press.
Roblar smiles.
Roblar waves his silver wand at a small fireworks press and a small swirl of glowing energy flows from the wand to the press.
Roblar hums a seemingly random tune.
Roblar nods with satisfaction.
Roblar whispers, "Push press."
You push the ornate iron lever on the side of the fireworks press.  The two iron plates of the press come together.  The press thrums under your pressure, growing slightly warm before sending a mild electric thrill up your arms.

Fiery orange and yellow flames writhe and dance within the brazier, as the arctic breeze seeps into your bones.
Roblar grins at you.
Roblar deeply says, "Open it."
You open a small fireworks press.
Roblar deeply says, "Get whats inside."
You remove a blue firework from in a small fireworks press.
Roblar lets out a cheer!

You smile.
Roblar deeply says, "Ya made one."
Roblar smiles.
Roblar put a grizzly bear hide in a small fireworks press.
You beam!
Roblar waves his silver wand at a small fireworks press and a small swirl of glowing energy flows from the wand to the press.
Roblar just opened a tightly woven spidersilk sack.
In the fireworks press you see a grizzly bear hide.
Roblar removes some polished red coral from in his spidersilk sack.

Roblar deeply asks, "Shall we?"
You nod.
Roblar deeply says, "Dey can se dis all in and around Icemule."
Roblar deeply says, "Well dey can see dis."
Roblar carefully sets a red firework on the ground.
Roblar carefully lights the fuse on a red firework, which immediately begins to issue forth a torrent of multi-colored sparks.
Roblar chuckles.

The fuse on a red firework burns down further, issuing a torrent of multi-colored sparks.

The fuse on a red firework burns down further, issuing a torrent of multi-colored sparks.
The fuse on a red firework burns down further, issuing a torrent of multi-colored sparks.
The fuse on a red firework burns away into the body of the firework.
Roblar deeply exclaims, "Now!"
The a red firework issues a violent torrent of red sparks from its base and shoots off into the air.  A bright trail of red light rises into the nighttime sky above , vanishing from sight a heartbeat later.
Roblar roars!
Glittering points of red light erupt in the nighttime sky to form a huge scintillating bear before slowly winking out.
Roblar gazes up into the heavens.
You gaze up into the sky and see a broad field of lights...
Twelve stars form a distinctly jagged, bright pattern high overhead in the skies.  The vague outline of a six-fingered hand with curved talons is visible in the inky darkness of the night sky, each of its sharp tips formed by dark incarnadine stars.
You gaze up into the heavens.

Roblar deeply says, "Ya can do it here or in town."
Roblar deeply says, "Bring it wid you."
Roblar smiles.
Roblar adds you to his group.
Roblar deeply says, "But we must go one at a time."
Roblar points at some ironwood planking.
Roblar points at a trapdoor.
Lowering himself through the trapdoor, Roblar braces his feet on a rung and quickly works his way down the ladder.
From below a trapdoor, you hear Roblar yell, "Come down!"
